** In Focus: The New Market Theater Building **
by yours truly
In the area now known as Old Town in downtown Portland stand many historic
buildings, most of them preserved and used today in modern means. Walk around
on a typical weekend morning near Skidmore Fountain, and life on the block
between Ash Street and the Burnside Bridge is bustling. Many modern-day
shoppers are well acquainted with Saturday Market, the open-air bazaar that is

** Words from a Workshop Student **
by Kate Regan, associate professor of Spanish, University of Portland

** Behind the Lens: Making History **

years using a slide show, later remade into a video, that didn't make the best
use of technology to share their story about women working in the Portland
shipyards during WWII. Read more about GOOD WORK SISTER! at...

Of course, you can always stop by our office and pick up your own hard-copy
version of our Quarterly to keep around the house. We're at 115 SW Ash, Suite
620 (see a picture of our office in the newsletter!), and we'd love to see you.
Don't forget: the tenth EXPLORING DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTION workshop begins July 19
and is now enrolling! Visit http://www.nwdocumentary.org for more information.
Happy holiday weekend,
Jen Smith
